An attack by armed gunmen in Myanmar claimed the lives of two local employees of DGB Microfinance Myanmar, a subsidiary of Daegu Bank, as confirmed by the firm on Tuesday.
 
The two Burmese employees were reportedly caught in the crossfire of an attack on May 21 while working in the vicinity of the scene. It is believed that they were not directly targeted.

“The company has immediately provided funeral expenses to the victims’ family members, and is also considering offering additional support for the bereaved families,” said a spokesperson for DGB Financial Group.
 
“We have implemented safety measures, including temporarily suspending any external sales activities for employees and conducting safety training to ensure their safety and security.”
 
Whether the attackers were affiliated with the rebel militia in the country is yet to be confirmed.
 
DGB Microfinance Myanmar, established in 2019, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Daegu Bank, a commercial bank under DGB Financial Group.
 
The Southeast Asian company has some 30 branches in the country.
