Amorepacific’s symposium at the 20th annual meeting of the Korean Hair Research Society [AMOREPACIFIC]

Amorepacific held a symposium at the 20th annual meeting of the Korean Hair Research Society, which took place on May 26 at Hotel Samjung in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.

Under the theme of “Hair Follicle Organoids,” Amorepacific presented its major research findings on improving hair loss symptoms and engaged in detailed discussions with domestic and international experts.

Organoids refer to three-dimensional organ mimics that replicate the complex structure and functions of human organs. They are actively utilized in drug development due to their similarity to human organs in structure and characteristics, and they have recently garnered attention in the cosmetics field as well.

Professor Kim Jae-ho of Ajou University, who participated in the symposium, gave a presentation on the topic of “Mass production and applications for efficacy evaluation by machine learning high contents screening system with hair organoids.”

Researcher Jeong Gyu-sang from Amorepacific’s R&I Center conducted a presentation on “The development of an in vitro human hair follicle organoid with a complexity similar to that in vivo.”

This pertains to an enhanced three-dimensional organoid evaluation system compared to existing systems. The evaluation system is utilized by Amorepacific in research aimed at discovering key ingredients for alleviating hair loss. The results of this study were also published in the international journal Biomedical Materials in February of this year.

Seo Byeong-hwi, head of Amorepacific’s R&I Center, said, “It was a meaningful time to share the latest research achievements related to hair organoids with globally renowned hair researchers.”

“Amorepacific will continue to strive to present the best products, based on our hair research technology and expertise accumulated over many years,” he added.
