The Hyundai World Rally Team celebrated a fantastic finish to Rally Italia Sardegna, its third win of the 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) season, on Sunday.

Hyundai's Ott Tanak, with an i20 N Rally1 Hybrid, took first place in the sixth round of the three-day WRC race held in Sardegna from Friday, beating Toyota's Sebastien Ogier by just 0.2 seconds.

Rally Italia Sardegna is considered one of the championship's toughest and roughest tests due to the abrasive nature of the road, Hyundai said.

It is also the team's second consecutive double podium finish, with Dani Sordo, another Hyundai driver who previously won the Italian Rally in 2019 and 2020, snatching third place.

The latest victory marks the Hyundai World Rally Team's third consecutive victory at the Rally Italy starting in 2022.

The WRC, which first started in 1973, is an auto racing championship recognized as the top competition in international rallying. Every year, 14 three-day-long rallies are held on a diverse range of surfaces.
