Twins Rui Bao, Hui Bao celebrate first birthday with doljabi event

Everland’s twin pandas, Rui Bao and Hui Bao, will celebrate their first birthday on July 7 with a special doljabi event. Doljabi is a traditional Korean ceremony held on a child’s first birthday, where the child is seated in front of a table with various items like cash, pens and thread, each symbolizing different futures such as longevity, intelligence and wealth.

Everland announced on Sunday that it will host an online quiz event inviting fans to guess which items the twins will choose during their doljabi event.

The pandas will have five items to choose from: a bamboo brush symbolizing wisdom, a ball representing talent, a wireless microphone for popularity, a gavel for honor and a dumbbell for health. Among those who correctly guess the items, Everland will randomly select 365 winners to receive a special gift bag that includes a soft toy panda created for the occasion.

The quiz will begin at 10 a.m. on July 1 and continue until 9 a.m. on July 7, and will be available on the Naver Opentalk page linked through Everland’s official website, www.everland.com. The doljabi event will be streamed live at 9:30 a.m. on July 7 on Everland’s official YouTube channel.

Rui Bao and Hui Bao are the siblings of star giant panda Fu Bao and Korea’s first naturally bred giant panda twins. Their names, chosen through a public selection process to mark their 100th day since their birth in October last year, mean "wise treasure" and "shining treasure," respectively.
