A fire broke out at a factory in an industrial area of Daegot-myeon, Gimpo, Gyeonggi at around 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. No casualties have been reported as of press time.
The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response at 5:50 a.m., 23 minutes after the fire started, and escalated it to Level 2 three minutes later as they are still working to contain the blaze. The authorities said they raised the level out of concern the fire might spread to nearby factories.
Gimpo City has sent out safety alerts via text message, advising nearby residents to be cautious of safety hazards.
The fire authorities said they will investigate the cause of the fire once it is extinguished.
