Korea to run tryouts for Homeless World Cup in Seoul, Gimhae

Selection for the Korean national team at the 2024 Homeless World Cup will take place over the weekend in Seoul and in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang, organizers said in a press release Friday.

A total of 32 potential players were interviewed by Lee Han-byul, who managed the Korean national team at the 2015, 2019 and 2023 tournaments, with a focus on their motivation and willingness to participate, according to the release.
 
Tryouts will run in Seoul on Saturday and in Gimhae on Sunday. Eight players will make up the national team, and five players will join as reserves.

Future training will also include five players from last year’s Korean national squad, according to the release. Reserve players from Korea’s squad will play for other countries if their squads need more numbers, as Korea is this year’s host.
 
The final roster will be confirmed in August.
 
Bayern Munich is set to run a training session through its youth development department in Korea on Aug. 2, according to the release, with a focus on skills, strength and teamwork.
 
Countries will compete with four players on either side of the pitch.
 
The Homeless World Cup will run from Sept. 21 to 28 at Hanyang University in eastern Seoul as Korea becomes the annual tournament’s first Asian host.
