2023 ″Series On Board″ event held in Los Angeles from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3 [MINISTRY OF CULTURE, SPORTS AND TOURISM]

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced Monday that it will host the “Series On Board” showcase in conjunction with the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca), where Korean small- and medium-sized cultural content producers will directly meet with foreign streaming services.

The participants of “Series On Board” are expected to share methods on how to utilize intellectual property, including the sale of broadcasting rights, co-production, re-production and ways to attract investors.

Applications for “Series On Board” can be submitted until 11 a.m. on July 26, through KCCA’s content export marketing platform website Welcon. Three cohorts each composed of seven drama companies and one non-drama series company will be selected for meetings in the United States, Britain or Japan, respectively.

This year’s “Series On Board” will be held in Tokyo from Sept. 23 to 25, London from Nov. 6 to 8 and Los Angeles from Nov. 11 to 13.

This is the second “Series On Board” showcase, following the inaugural event held last year in Los Angeles. Last year’s ENA drama “The Kidnapping Day” was confirmed for a British remake at the event.

This year's showcase will have a broader scale of support, according to the Culture Ministry. Unlike last year’s event which exclusively dealt with TV Drama content, this year the government will also include documentaries, entertainment shows and other types of content.

"Content intellectual property is the driving force that enables small production companies to advance onto the global stage," said Media Policy Bureau Director of the Culture Ministry Kim Yong-sup. "We will actively support K-media and video content so that it can expand worldwide and create success stories."
