The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sunday announced that a moon-shaped tethered balloon, dubbed “Seouldal,” had its official maiden flight last Friday in Yeouido Park in western Seoul.
The ride, whose name combines Seoul with the Korean word for "moon," is available every Tuesday to Sunday between 12 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Passengers can enjoy the cityscape day and night while reaching an altitude of 130 meters (426 feet) under a balloon filled with helium with a capacity of 20 passengers.
The giant 22-meter-diameter balloon features the city’s slogan, “Seoul, My Soul” on its exterior.
The fare for a single adult is 25,000 won ($18.87), and minors aged between three and 19 pay 20,000 won. Those with the city’s Climate Card transit pass are eligible for a 10 percent discount.
The city government is preparing an online reservation system and plans to allow each person to purchase four tickets at maximum.
The operation schedule may be adjusted according to weather conditions and such changes can be found on Instagram page with the handle "@seouldal_official."
