Polish president to make state visit next week

Polish President Andrzej Duda is scheduled to make a state visit to Korea next week for a bilateral summit with President Yoon Suk Yeol, the presidential office announced Thursday.
 
Duda and first lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda will make a visit to Seoul from next Tuesday to Friday. Yoon and Duda will hold their summit next Thursday to discuss "substantive" cooperation bilaterally, regionally and on the international stage, the office said.

The two leaders last met on the sidelines of the NATO summit held in Washington in July. Yoon visited Poland in July 2023 for a summit with Duda, after attending last year's NATO summit in Lithuania. During this trip, Yoon made a surprise visit to Ukraine and promised to provide humanitarian support amid its war with Russia.
 
In July 2022, Poland signed procurement deals worth $12.3 billion to buy 48 FA-50 light attack aircraft. Poland has also procured Korea's K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled howitzers and Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers to bolster its defense.
