'Around Cheongwa' program to showcase Blue House, neighboring areas

The government is hosting an “Around Cheongwa” program for locals and foreigners to promote tourism near Chengwadae, known as the Blue House during its time as the seat of the presidential office, in Jongno District, central Seoul, beginning this Saturday.
 
The program — organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization — will feature a string of events, including tours and one-day classes, until Dec. 30.

Tours in the nearby Seochon and Bukchon areas will take place every weekend from Saturday until Nov. 3, exploring the history and present of these areas, with seven tours available each day for each area.

 
At the Cheongwadae Sarangchae, an exhibition will provide travel course recommendations in the area and information using six unique virtual traveler personas.
 
Beginning Nov. 15, one-day experiential classes will be held every Friday until December 20. In collaboration with various local brands in the Blue House area, these classes will cover themes such as perfume scenting, mother-of-pearl crafts, soap making, and dancheong (traditional multicolored paintwork on wooden buildings).
 
To encourage participation at the Blue House and nearby attractions, a stamp tour will be organized, allowing tourists to collect stamps at each event site.
 
Discount passes will also be provided, featuring different offerings for each month: food and beverages this month, books next month, and exhibitions and crafts in December. These passes can be used at local shops in the Blue House area.
