Gov't rolls out educational programs on Blue House history and culture

The government will hold a series of education programs on the history and cultural value of the Blue House to celebrate the second anniversary of the former presidential residence opening up to the public.
 
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with the Cheong Wa Dae Foundation, will organize a series of education programs for adults, families and students starting this month and running until November.

Three lectures on the architecture, gardening and artworks of the Blue House will take place on the last Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. in June, July and August.
 
The first session on June 27 will be hosted by a former Blue House photojournalist at Yonhap News Agency, who will explain the history of the Blue House's architecture, furniture and paintings. The July 25 session will cover the gardening features of the Blue House, and the Aug. 29 session will focus on the artworks housed within the Blue House.
 
Reservations for these sessions opened on Wednesday at 2 p.m. on the Cheong Wa Dae website. Fifty slots will be available online and 30 slots on-site for each session on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
Families with children aged between 8 and 13 will be able to participate in a group lesson on the foliage of the Blue House every Friday from July to September at 3 p.m. Reservations also began on Wednesday at 2 p.m. 
 
A tour around the Blue House for middle and high school students will take place every Wednesday and Thursday from September to November. Reservations for these tours will open on Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.
