Korea's economy grew faster than expected in the second quarter as spending by consumers freed most of Covid-related restrictions and spending by the government compensated for weakness in exports and investment.
The economy grew 3.1 percent in the first quarter on year, putting Korea on track to meet full-year central bank gross domestic product (GDP) growth targets.
