Number of Vacationers Half of Last Year
The number of people who went on summer vacation this year was reduced by half to those of last year according to the Korea Tourism Research Institute.The survey was done by 1,144 persons in Seoul, and only 34.3% said they went on vacation, which was far less than the 70.6% in 1997.
During this summer it is estimated that of the six million who went on a holiday, 220,000 went abroad.
In terms of domestic vacationers, 45.8% answered they visited Kangwon province followed by Choongnam (9.1%) and Kyunggi province(7.5%).
