The Taxmen"s Various Forms of Corruption

Tax collectors with the Tax Administration Agency (TAA) have used various methods to engage in corruption, according to statistics submitted to the National Assembly's National Audit.
Material disclosed on October 26 by assemblyman Kim Jae Chun of the opposition Grand National Party(GNP) revealed that TAA members committed 72% of all government official's corruption.
Each collector took an average of 2,300 dollars of bribery this year.
Locations for bribe drop-offs were diverse. For instance a tax collector at the Kwanghwamun office conducted his transactions, quite fittingly, in the toilet.
Officials and businessmen were in the same boat coniving with each other to cheat the government. Corruption is not limited to money itself. An official from the Naju tax office recieved a car worth 18,000 dollar instead of cash.
