Water Prices to Rise by 40~50% Next Year
The government plans to raise the price of water in the regions of Seoul and Kyonggi Province by 40~50% next year.The government will impose a consumption tax for using water toward the residents of the regions from 1999 to 2003 in order to improve the quality of water.
Meanwhile, the government intends to raise the fares for water additionally in the whole country by 10~20% annually from 1999 to 2001.
A source at the government said, ' The government will raise the price for water in Seoul by 100 won or so per ton.'
