GNP Maintains Sit-in Strike

Opposition Grand National Party(GNP) members continued their sit-in strike on January 7 at the National Assembly building protesting the ruling National Congress for New Politics(NCNP)'s one-sided passage of bills.
GNP censured KCIA's political investigation and concluded that the single-handed passage was a form of 'political violence.'
GNP members were enranged when they heard that prosecutors arrested three GNP secretarial clerks for breaking into the Assembly's room 529.
They kept shouting, 'The Kim Dae Jung administration is trying to eradicate any opposition and we must hold the main hall to stop their arresting of our member Suh Sang Rok.'
GNP's president, Lee Hoi Chang, returned to his home at 1 a.m. but gave a short visit again in the morning to cheer them up just before a party meeting at the Assembly.
Party spokesperson, Ahn Taek Soo, after the meeting said to the reporters, 'At least there will not be a 'watch-and-go' incompetence from today and we'll keep watching the NCNP's movement.'
The GNP also asked President Kim to fire KCIA's head, Lee Jong Chan, for conducting political investigations against opposition members.
