Smoke May Be Clearing in Political Battle

The ruling National Congress for New Politics(NCNP) and the opposition Grand National Party(GNP) are now trying to return to the discussion table.
The two parties on January 13 agreed to recover some form of political dialogue that can close the growing chasm between the two including the latest dispute over room 529's break-in at the National Assembly.
Floor leaders of the two parties plus United Liberal Democrats met at the Assembly and consented to reopen talks with one another.
GNP-assemblyman, Lee Kyu Taek, said, 'During the question period at the Assembly, we will be asking for the Prime Minister's opinion on political investigations targeting opposition statesmen, and the answer will decide our future attitude, whether to continue fighting or to talk.'
The NCNP's general secretary, Chung Kyun Hwan, commented, 'Conversations should take place in principle. We cannot accept the GNP's demands such as the president's apology or the firing of the ANSP head.'
