Strikes in Car Industry Not Yet Severe

The strike actions in the automobile sector are not having the severe and crippling effects expected, so far.
Earlier, labor unions at Kia Motors announced a general strike starting February 26, but two production lines still operated normally on that day.
A company spokesperson said, 'Despite the unions in the company's calling for a general strike, the ratio of union members participating in the strike is quite low. Accordingly, there are no problems in operating assembly lines.'
Regarding the matter, union leaders commented, 'About 5,000 people among more than 13,000 members in the union are now participating in the strike.'
Meanwhile, a Hyundai Motors' union that announced a general strike on February 25 postponed the strike tentatively and decided to hold an executive meeting March 3 to discuss the matter.
