Fat Military Officers Trimming Down

Overweight military officers at Kyeryong Dae, home of the military's headquarters, are strapping sandbags to their legs for exercise as well as starting diets.
After the Ministry of Defense (MOD) warned earlier this year that officers with 'spare tires' around their waists may be forced to leave the military forces, a new trimmer fashion is prevailing.
One officer said, 'As I have been primarily working at a desk job, I have grown a beer belly. I have lost 0.8 kg since I have been carrying two-kg sandbags around for the last month.'
The anti-fat fad is spreading to civic officials who are working in the Taejon local government and Taejon City Hall.
A shopkeeper who sells sandbags said, 'Recently, civic officials and military officers are buying about 10 sandbags a day.'
