A Top Police Officer Under Investigation
Seoul District Prosecutor's Office called for an arrest warrant for Park Hee Won, chief of the Information Bureau of the National Police Agency on May 18 after amassing enough evidence to prosecute him.Mr. Park has been charged with accepting a bribe of 22 million won from an apartment-managing firm stopping an investigation of the firm.
The firm has been investigated by a regional police station on a charge of corruption related to apartment management.
Senior Superintendent General Park reportedly denies that he received a bribe.
A source from the prosecutor office said that the scrutiny of Mr.Park is not connected with the request for independent investigation rights by the police.
