New Prosecutor-General and NIS Chief Appointed

President Kim Dae Jung announced on May 25 a new prosecutor-general and new head of the National Intelligence Service(NIS).
Follow-up appointments of senior presidential secretaries and vice ministerial officials was made today.
President Kim appointed Park Soon Yong, chief of Taegu High Prosecutors Office, as new prosecutor -general.
In addition, former defense minister Chun Yong Taek was appointed to be new chief of NIS, replacing Lee Jong Chan who will return to the ruling party.
Former labor minister Lee Kee Ho was named as senior aide for economic affairs to the president. Park Jun Young, high-ranking secretary in charge of domestic press, was promoted to the position of Chong Wa Dae spokesperson.
A former major general Hwang Won Tak was unexpectedly selected as a senior presidential secretary for security and foreign policy.
Ahn Jung Nam, deputy head of the National Tax Administration (NTA), was promoted to be head of NTA.
