Officials to be Excluded from Rebuilding Korea

The 'National Commission for Rebuilding Korea' has decided to reshuffle its planning bureau and standing committee by excluding public officials and supplementing them with NGO personnel to strengthen the initiative of the citizen.
President Kim Dae Jung will reportedly finally approve and announce changes in personnel from the civil sector this week.
With the reshuffle, the government wishes to deflect criticism that its thinking dominates the decisions of the commission. Future activity of the commission is likely to change direction.
A high official within the commission said on June 6, 'the plan to change personnel has already been reported to the Blue House (Chong Wa Dae) and will be released this week.'
He added, 'We plan to exclude those in office as we have decided that the commission should concentrate on the reform in the civil sector, while the government leads the renovation of the political and administrative system.'
Thirteen high officials - including the Deputy Minister of Unification and the Deputy Minister of Education - have participated in the commission, making up 20-30 percent of the members of the planning bureau and standing committee.
