Twenty-five Tons of Pork from Europe Found in the Market

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced on June 8 that it has found 25 tons of the pork meat imported from Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. The pork was found with livestock wholesalers and retailers around the nation. The domestic use and sale of the pork from these countries is now banned.
Sale agents and retailers should keep the imported pork without selling it until the government confirms if it is safe.
If the sale agents and retailers violate the governmental order prohibiting the sale of the pork thought to be contaminated with dioxin, their business operations could be forcibly suspended.
The Ministry continues its nationwide search for pork meat imported from the three European countries until the safety of the pork is ensured.
According to the Ministry, 71.6 percent of the 3,410 tons of Belgian pork has already been sold since January 15 this year. 56.7 percent of the 2,484 tons of pork meat from France and 68.8 percent of the 2,882 tons from the Netherlands have also been distributed. Therefore, only 0.43 percent of the 5,826 tons of pork already sold has been withdrawn.
