SNU Proposes Incentive System for Professors
Seoul National University(SNU) announced on October 25 that it will introduce an incentive system for professors next year.SNU plans to pay 5 million won in incentives to 15 percent of its total of 1,500 professors and towards that aim has sent a request for the additional 1 billion won in its budget to the Ministry of Education.
This incentive system is to accompany the introduction of the government's policy of annually reviewing job performances and aligning salaries in accordance with an employee's performance.
A source at SNU said, 'We have decided to introduce the incentive system to promote top-notch research by professors.'
