DJ Talks to Japanese PM, Russian President
President Kim Dae-jung telephoned the leaders of Japan and Russia in the afternoon of August 1 and talked generally about regional and Korean affairs.During his phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori, Kim congratulated him on the Group of Eight summit in Okinawa and the meeting between North Korean and Japanese foreign affair ministers. Kim also thanked Mori for his statement about the Korean Peninsula at the G-8 summit, according to the president's spokesperson Park Joon-yung.
Russian President Vladimir Putin told Kim about his recent visit to Pyongyang (July 19-20) while Kim explained about the South-North Korean ministers talks. Kim asked Putin for Russia's continued support in South-North relations.
