MDP Pressing for Revisions to National Security Law
The ruling Millennium Democratic Party plans to carry out a revision of the National Security Law within the year, citing an improvement in South-North relations.A high-ranking MDP official announced on August 22 that "the platform and the policies of the MDP, which will be revised at the party's general assembly on August 30, will include revisions to the National Security Law."
"Until now, political lines have been drawn over the issue of the National Security Law. However, the party has come to the conclusion that a revision of the National Security Law, which does not reflect the changing times, is an urgent matter, now that some separated families have been reunited and the Kyongui Line (the railroad between Seoul and Shinuiju) will be restored," the source added.
