Tax Breaks for Self-Employed

The government is considering a tax cut for self-employed businessmen whose tax burdens have increased as they used their credit cards more often, the Finance Ministry said Friday.

A ministry official said the government will finalize the details of the proposed tax break for the self-employed immediately after proprietor income-tax forms are filed next month.

The move comes as the government attempts to map out the big picture for taxation policy for the next five years. A ministry official said the government would announce the new taxation measures next month.

In order to boost the slowing economy, the ministry is also considering extending a temporary 10-percent tax reduction on companies' facility investments.
