Japanese firm says it plans to strengthen ties to Korea
Renesas Technology, a leading Japanese semiconductor manufacturer, announced yesterday that its Korean aim is to strengthen business ties with its partner companies here, including Samsung and LG. “Korea is definitely a cradle of the global IT industry these days,” Ito Satoru, chairman and chief executive officer of Renasas, said in a press conference yesterday at the Seoul Sheraton Walker Hill. He said the company will beef up its relations with large companies and smaller suppliers of software and middleware codec technology. Renesas was founded in 2003 as a joint venture between Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electronic Corp. Korea accounts for 10 percent of the company’s total revenues. by Won Dong-hee
