DSME wins an award for a submarine combat system

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) won a silver medal in the defense research and development encouragement ceremony, hosted by Defense Acquisition Program Administration, for its contribution to the development of a submarine combat system.

The ceremony took place in Yeouido, western Seoul, on Thursday to reward those contributing to the development of materials and key technologies related to defense.

DSME is the first shipbuilding company to have received recognition at the annual ceremony, the company said in a statement on Friday.

DSME worked with defense company LIG Nex1 to develop a submarine integrated combat system. It was recognized for improving the system, according to DSME. DSME in February delivered the submarine to the navy.

“DSME will continue to contribute to boosting the technical capabilities of the defense industry by engaging in research and development,” said a spokesperson for the company in a statement.
