The Korea Tourism Organization has introduced 30 especially beautiful routes by which one can explore Korea by bicycle. The routes are not only scenic but have many restaurants and cultural centers nearby so that bicycle riders can have fun-filled experiences.

The bicycle paths along the Han River are included as part of “Beautiful Travel Routes on Bicycle” list because there are many river parks and ecological centers such as Nanji Eco-Wetland. Routes along the Bukhan and Namhan rivers, the upper sections of the Han River, have also been designated as recommended routes in Gyeonggi area. And routes close to demilitarized zone in Gangwon and those in Jeju are also included on the list.

“The selections aren’t just for simple riding, but they are more like travel trails that are filled with a variety of tourism content such as scenery, food and local culture,” said Lee Sang-gi, manager of the leisure, sports, and tourism team at the Korea Tourism Organization.

“By promoting such bicycle trails, we expect people to get to know these available routes better and make better use of them.”

To better promote the new list, the organization is encouraging people to use the hashtag “Ajagil,” which stands for the name of the project, on Instagram until Nov. 22. The KTO will select users to receive gifts including a bicycle, video camera and Polaroid camera so that they can document their adventures on the trails.

More information about the bicycle trails can be found at www.ajagil.or.kr. On the website one can find more extensive information on each trail, maps as well as reviews by other bicycle riders along with travel tips. Information online is currently available only in Korean.
