Sohn Seok Hee, one of MBC (Munhwa Braodcasting Corporation)'s most popular announcers, appears to have returned to TV.
He went to the United States to study journalism at the University of Minnesota in April 1997. Having completed his two-year journalism program, he has returned to Korea.
He earned a master's degree from the University of Minnesota in International Communications, which mainly focuses on a variety of research on the international dominance by media.
In an interview with Korean newspaper reporters, Sohn said Korean news programs should be independent of pressures from politics or big business. He criticized U.S. news programs for currently tending to be excessively commercial and sensational.
He insisted that Korean broadcasting companies must seek a new model for news programs to cover various accidents and human interest stories in their own way.
