[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]Don’t touch the holidays
It was troubling to read that the government might cut back the number of holidays next year as the five-day workweek is introduced. It does not seem fair to cut holidays when it will surely be a number of years before the shorter workweek is fully implemented.I’d like to ask how many companies will be moving to the five-day workweek as the new law lays out. Conditions for smaller business will make it difficult for them to make the change right away. Most working people are not employees of giant conglomerates and are not members of powerful unions. All they have to look forward to is the one day or so a month of holiday.
