[LETTERS TO THE EDITOR]System unfair to cab drivers
Currently, there are 260 taxi companies in Seoul. But each company has a shortage of taxi drivers of about 20 percent. Still, the companies do not make any attempt to better their management practices. Each company requires a driver to pay around 90,000 won ($75) per day; anything more belongs to the driver. But because of the slow economy, drivers are now unable to meet the 90,000 won requirement. Some drivers who earn less than 90,000 won actually lose money.
Such a minimum requirement is absurd. Only taxi companies have such a system in this country. This kind of unreasonable system should be changed.
