Korea to ask U.S. view on Google service
The South Korean government will ask U.S. officials to examine a satellite imaging service offered by Google Inc., the world’s most used Web search engine, amid concerns that users can view and magnify security facilities such as military bases. South Korea plans to discuss with U.S. officials ways to avoid possible threats to national security related to Google Earth, Blue House spokesman Kim Man-soo told reporters, according to an official in the Korean presidential office. The Mountain View, California-based company released Google Earth, which provides satellite pictures of buildings and landscapes worldwide, as a free product in June.
