Taking a peep at white underwear
The rest of those with an ambition to be fashionable made their way to the Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear show at Papertainer Museum, inside Olympic Park. One section of the museum’s walls displayed blue jeans on headless mannequins, but they were mostly ignored as guests made a beeline for the underwear.
The much awaited Calvin Klein underwear fashion show took on a kinky edge this year, displaying a taste for voyeurism. A tall white box the size of a large bedroom stood near the entrance. There were holes in each wall, through which visitors could peep inside to look at 13 models, men and women, posing lethargically in the latest Calvin Klein underwear.
After flirting with amorous red and even Victoriana in past seasons, this year we are being offered white undergarments, cut along classic lines with wide elastic bands that read Calvin Klein in pale gray.
Dale Rozmairek, the vice president of Creative Services for Calvin Klein, flew in from New York to oversee the event. Mr. Rozmairek said the show’s concept was part of the American brand’s global effort to deliver a consistent theme. “The idea is to recapture the original spirit of Calvin Klein. So the look is classic, simple, tight and very sexy on a slim body,” he said as he observed the peeping Toms enjoying the show.
A strong wind that blew into the museum, which is part of an outdoor arena, could have spoilt the fun, but the young guests enjoyed their evening. After free bottles of Heineken and dancing led by Les Putafranges, a disc jockey group from France, the trendsetters felt blessed to be alive and kicking in a Calvin Klein world.
