The JoongAng Seoul Marathon 2009 was held yesterday. The annual event, which is sponsored by the JoongAng Ilbo, Ilgan Sports and Korea Association of Athletics Federation, is divided into a full 42.196-kilometer marathon and a 10-kilometer course. A total of 21,000 runners participated in this year’s event. In the full marathon, Francis Larabal of Kenya narrowly defeated his fellow countryman David Mandago by one second to take first place.
