Young, 29, will make $300,000 for the rest of this season.

He has logged 22 games in MLB for the Chicago Cubs, who drafted him in the 15th round out of Old Dominion University in 2017.

Young put up a .210/.290/.435 line in MLB, while logging time at first base and in right field.

Young has been playing in Triple-A in the St. Louis Cardinals system, and batted .285/.411/.506 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs in 74 games.

The Bears said they liked Young's on-base skills and power, with 32 homers in 164 games over the past two Triple-A campaigns.

Young, who hails from Prince George, British Columbia, becomes the second Canadian player for the Bears, joining right-hander Jordan Balazovic, from Mississauga, Ontario.

Ramos batted .305/.360/.482 with 10 homers and 48 RBIs in 80 games, in what has been an up-and-down season. He batted only .244 in his first 21 games of the season, but put up an excellent .387/.447/.634 line in May. He cooled off in June but was batting a solid .304 in 11 games in July before getting cut.

While Ramos' offensive numbers are fine, the Bears have not been pleased with his lack of hustle on defense and on base paths.

On June 15, Bears manager Lee Seung-yuop said he had a chat with Ramos over a series of defensive miscues from the previous day. Lee told reporters, "As a professional athlete, he has to make a professional play. That was an amateur, careless play. I'd rather not bring up something like this with players, but I had to this time."
