Financial aid for child rape victim
The northern Seoul prosecutors’ office extended efforts yesterday to help a 7-year-old Vietnamese rape victim and her family recuperate after the girl was raped in her own house in Jangan-dong, Seoul, late last month. The Seoul Northern Center of Cooperation for Victims of Crime, an association affiliated with the region’s prosecutors’ office, said it will give 11 million won ($9147.61) to the victim’s family.
“Six million won is for living costs to be distributed over the next six months,” explained a center official. “The rest was for additional support.”
An official from the prosecutors’ office said they would help the Vietnamese mother acquire Korean citizenship. The mother and stepfather live in Korea on working visas.
Cooperation centers for crime victims hand out support fees ranging from 6 million to 30 million won to crime victims and their families.
