Lee Jung-soo joining Al Sadd in QatarLee Jung-soo, who made a name for himself as a goal-scoring defender in the 2010 World Cup, is set to join Al Sadd Sports Club of the Qatar Stars League as part of a two-year deal.
According to a JoongAng Ilbo report, Al Sadd acquired the center defender from the Kashima Antlers of the J-League by shelling out 2.4 billion won ($1.9 million) in transfer fees. Under the contract, the team will pay him 2.2 billion won per year.
Players in Qatar are exempt from paying taxes, which means Lee will earn more than double his salary with Kashima. Lee joined Kashima after scoring six goals in 36 appearances for the Kyoto Purple Sanga last year.
