Liverpool due in Seoul for July exhibition

FC Seoul, a Korean professional football club in the K-League, is faced with a scheduling conflict regarding a proposed summer exhibition match against England’s most successful tea.

Liverpool FC are scheduled to come to Korea on July 19 for an exhibition against FC Seoul, the 2010 K-League champion but Seoul is set to face the Pohang Steelers on July 17 and could be too exhausted to play a game two days later, a team official said.

FC Seoul previously hosted Manchester United in 2007 and 2009, nearly selling out the 66,000-seat Seoul World Cup Stadium in both matches. Popular Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung plays for United.

The Seoul club is trying to make some scheduling adjustments in domestic play to accommodate the 18 time English league-champions and 5 time European-champions. They would like to face Liverpool on July 20, when Korea’s FA Cup quarterfinals are scheduled. FC Seoul has asked the Korea Football Association to push back the FA Cup contests by a week.
