2011.7.29 Weekend Picks: KBO
Published: 28 Jul. 2011, 19:41
* Seoul Nexen Heroes (30-47) at Gwangju Kia Tigers (52-37)
* Moodeung Baseball Stadium, Gwangju
* Friday 6:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 5 p.m.
The Seoul Nexen Heroes hope to extend their four-game winning streak from last week when they face the Tigers this weekend, weather permitting.
But if they expect to do that, their pitchers will need to stop lead-off man Lee Yong-kyu, who leads the league in batting average (.372) and on-base percentage (.458). The Tigers also have third baseman Lee Bum-ho who leads the league in RBI with 75.
But the Heroes have their own power at the plate in Cory Aldridge and Kang Jung-ho.
Give the Tigers the edge with a 9-3 head-to-head record this season, but don’t count the Heroes out.
