Han Sun-kyo officially began his role as the new commissioner of the Korean Basketball League (KBL) yesterday, saying he will restore the sport to its former popularity.
“I feel an enormous responsibility has been placed on my shoulders for the next three years,” Han said. “I will try to make the league more successful and expand the sport.”
Han, also a lawmaker of the ruling Grand National Party, said he will first move to transform gyms that have fallen into disuse into basketball facilities. He will also try to launch a new cup competition for pros and amateurs.
