2AM to release LP
Published: 07 Mar. 2012, 17:29
As there are currently no LP manufacturers in Korea, the disc is being produced in the United States.
LPs cost five times more to produce than CDs do and take around eight to nine weeks to create, explaining why artists today rarely choose to release them. The last prominent Korean band to have done so was Brown Eyed Soul last year.
However, the band’s record label thought an LP would be the perfect medium to convey the mood of the band’s music.
“We thought that the soulful mood of the ballads would be best delivered through an LP due to its old-school charms. Thus, no expenses were spared in the project,” said a representative from JYP Entertainment.
Starting from today, fans will be able to place orders of the LP through major online music portals. The discs will be delivered on May 15.
Meanwhile, 2AM’s digital EP album will be released online on March 12 and will hit stores on March 13. Fans who have ordered copies of the album have the chance to be placed on a waiting list to attend a special showcase by the band called the Unplugged Fan Meeting, off of which sixty fans will be chosen.
