A blast from the past

Gana Art Center in central Seoul is showing 50 of local collectors’ favorite pieces until April 14 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Most of the works are paintings and sculptures by renowned artists as well as white porcelain from the Joseon period. One of the most unique pieces is a wooden threshing machine, pictured above, from the 18th century, owned by Kim Jong-hak. He said the machine “has excellent beauty not falling behind sculptors’ works and reminds me of works by English abstract sculptor Anthony Caro.” Provided by the gallery
