MBC cancels diving show
Broadcaster MBC has decided to cancel its entertainment show “Star Diving Show Splash” after many of the celebrities who appeared on it were injured while performing dives.“Some serious talk about canceling the show started Wednesday afternoon and the issue was confirmed officially through the meeting of MBC executives in the morning [yesterday],” Shin Jeong-soo, producer of the show, told Ilgan Sports, an affiliate of the Korea JoongAng Daily.
“I’m sorry for the cast and staff, who have put forth so much effort.”
The show, which was scheduled to have up to 13 episodes, was canceled after four.
“After Lee Bong-won was injured, we had all stopped practicing, and as the scheduled filming was [postponed] for two weeks, we expected that the show may be canceled,” said an official affiliated with one of the show’s cast members.
Lee was diagnosed with a bone fracture under his eyes during practice last week and underwent surgery. He was discharged from hospital on Wednesday, but he will receive more medical treatment for two to three weeks. By Lee Sun-min
