Doosan Group believes that only well-prepared corporations can pull ahead in the competitive global market, which is why the company’s subsidiaries are currently concentrating on developing the quality of the methods and technologies it uses.

But the company is not just planning to upgrade its existing facilities. Doosan is focusing on a total transformation through benchmarking top companies in the market to raise Doosan to a world-class level.

The company has already begun to improve its standing internationally. The largest affiliate in the group, Doosan Heavy Industries (DHI), last year won several overseas contracts. It inked a deal to construct a large power plant in Vihn Tan, Vietnam, and will also build a seawater desalination plant in Escondida, Chile,

In the next 12 months, DHI plans to focus on enhancing the quality of its products while continuing to work with international partners, particularly in the Middle East.

DHI’s domestic achievements are notable, too. The company has been hired to construct a power plant in Boryeong, Chungcheong, and a collective energy facility in the Saemangeum archipelago.

Another subsidiary, machinery maker Doosan Infracore, plans to improve its company structure to increase profitability abroad. With stricter quality control and development of better products, the company seeks to satisfy overseas customers further by implementing various measures like hiring more local international dealers to respond faster to clients.

In addition, an integrated research and development (R&D) center will be completed in Incheon in the first half of this year. The employees working in this 14-story building will focus mainly on the global business of Doosan Infracore.

Other affiliates such as Bobcat, a farm and construction equipment maker, and Doosan Engine also strive to expand worldwide. Bobcat will accelerate reforms through R&D to create new equipment such as outdoor testing facilities for the production of high-end construction machinery.

Meanwhile, Doosan Engine intends to strengthen its relationship with clients overseas in the Asia, Middle East and Africa regions.

“We will eagerly seek for innovative ideas to improve the corporation,” said a Doosan official. “The preparation will make Doosan a leader in the global market.”
