Blockchain and fintech company Dunamu is in the spotlight for setting an exemplary precedence of preemptive relief effort on national disaster.

It has shown differentiated moves, from disaster relief donations to participatory campaigns.

Since 2018, Dunamu has donated more than 17 billion won to support disasters.

Dunamu has donated disaster relief aid collections for every national disaster, aiming for community recovery.

Dunamu donated 500 million won to the Korean Red Cross to help victims of the Gangneung wildfire in early April. It also donated 3 billion won to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association in March last year, for another forest fire in Uljin, North Gyeongsang, and Samcheok, Gangwon.

In addition, it contributed to the recovery of flood damage with a 2 billion won donation to Hope Bridge.

All donations were used to restore flooded areas, support housing for victims as well as provide relief supplies.

Dunamu has supported international disasters as well, spreading a good influence both in and out the society. In March this year, it held a fund-raising campaign to support recovery for the Turkiye earthquake with Upbit, a crypto exchange platform. The campaign uses “Matching grant” method, where Upbit users donate Bitcoins to e-wallet for donation.

Dunamu adds additional contributions within a specific limit to match a certain amount. As of March 14 in 2023, a total of 14 BTCs (about 440 million) was raised and was sent to the Turkiye-hit areas through the Korean Committee for Unicef.

It also donated 1 billion won to The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in support of relief efforts in Ukraine. Dunamu is the first Korean company to provide food assistance for Ukrainians through WFP.

Dunamu leads not only donations but creation of a new campaign culture as its participatory campaigns raise awareness of disaster crisis as well.

2ndblock, in metaverse platform of Dunamu, has launched a campaign regarding forest recovery in March this year.

Participants planted trees in its platform, 2ndblock, and for each tree, two actual trees were planted in fire affected areas.

More than 30,000 trees will be planted in Uljin, where great damage was caused by wildfires last year.

Participants were encouraged to carry out missions in virtual forests while it shows an educational effect of forest restoration. In fact, according to a survey by Korea Social Value Assessment (KSVA) on 678 participants in campaign, 94.4 percent of the respondents said they got to acquire the process of forest restoration as well as importance of forest via its campaign.

As Dunamu is preemptively engaged in disaster situations aimed at corporate social responsibility realization, it is expected that Dunamu will continue to take beneficial steps for society.
