Hyundai E&C wins bid to build Saudi electricity substation

Hyundai Engineering & Construction said yesterday it won a $248 million order from Saudi Electricity Company to build a new substation and maintain existing substations.

The nation’s second-largest builder said it is the single largest substation contract in Saudi Arabia. Hyundai E&C will build a 380-kilovolt substation in the Jubail industrial zone in eastern Saudi Arabia and refurbish existing substations.

The affiliate of Hyundai Motor Group will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction as well as the pilot run of the facility. It expects to finish the project by October 2016.
