2010 gold medalist 13th in allround

Olympic gold medalist long-track speed skater Lee Seung-hoon finished 13th at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships at the Calgary Olympic Oval in Canada after scoring 110.341 points.

The International Skating Union event, which ended on Sunday, local time, translates each skater’s record into points, and those with the least win the event. Races in the men’s competition are 500, 1,500, 5,000 and 10,000 meters and in the women’s 500, 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters.

Lee, who won gold in the 10,000 meter at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, finished 15th in the allround in 2012. Compatriot Kim Cheol-min finished 19th among 24 skaters.

Sven Kramer of the Netherlands won his record seventh world allround title with 146.509 points.

In the women’s race, the Czech Republic’s Martina Sablikova won with 157.717 points.

Korea’s Kim Bo-reum finished 18th.
