After vote by peers, Oh on Athletes Committee

The 2012 Olympic champion Oh Jin-hyek was voted in as a member of the Athletes Committee for the World Archery Federation on Tuesday.

At the World Archery Championships in Copenhagen, archers voted for their four athlete representatives that comprise the committee, one each in the compound men, compound women, recurve men and recurve women divisions.

Oh, who has three world championship gold medals, got 124 votes in the men’s recurve division, beating Mexico’s Juan Rene Serrano, who had 75. He will be given a four-year term.

Before Oh, Korean Archery Association director Kim Soo-nyung, who has four gold medals in the Olympics, was elected as a member of the Constitution and Rules Committee, while Oh Kyo-moon, the 2000 Olympic gold medalist, became a member of the Coaches Committee.

Including Lee Eun-kyung, who was elected to the Target Archery Committee in 2013, there are now four Koreans serving as committee members in the federation.
